Depending on where you live, you might be in a lockdown mandated by the government or maybe you tested positive to COVID19 or were potentially exposed to someone who tested positive. If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen my Stories where I discussed my experience with COVID. Luckily, it wasn’t bad minus the fact that I had to stay home for 28 days, back to back. If you’re curious about that, send me a DM on Instagram.
However, I wanted to share things to do while you are in quarantine, staying home or in a lockdown zone. These are all affordable things to do at home that will keep your mind busy and ensure you’re staying productive and not falling into a rut!
Repot and fertilize your house plants
This is something that you should do every three or four months. Get some new potting soil and some fertilizer and add some life into your plants. Depending on how many plants you have, this could be a quick and simple task or if you have as many plants as me.. it might be an afternoon project!
Vacuum your vehicle
Every season I try to vacuum my vehicle! It’s nice to get into a clean car. While you might not be driving much, it’s nice to get out there and do a full clean up.
Wipe down your baseboards and trim
If you are like me, this might get missed. I don’t regularly wipe down the baseboards and trim but damn, that’s something worth doing while you’re home. I just fill a bucket with warm water and some multi-purpose cleaner and wipe down all the baseboards, casings and trim.
Bake sourdough, or something new to you
I just got a dutch oven a few months ago, as part of a brand deal with Kana Goods. Once I got that dutch oven, I really got into the sourdough trend. While sourdough might not be new to you, I would recommend that you try something new. With baking, you are rewarded with food so why not!
Nothing at all, because you don’t have to always be productive
This is key! Earlier in the blog, I said I would share fun and productive things to do. Well, in order to stay fun and productive – you need to be happy. Give yourself permission to chill out. I have trouble shutting it down, but just taking a day or afternoon to veg/chill out is key to staying sane during a lockdown.
Learn a new skill
Why not, eh? Always be building your skill set! Think of something that will benefit your career, or just pick up a new hobby.
While there is only a few ideas here, I’m sure you will do one of them! Remember, it’s a weird time and you’re going to go through ups and downs. That’s normal, even if people aren’t talking about it! While our experience with COVID was good, not everyone else can say that. However, I know first hand how hard staying home during a quarantine is. Hope this helps!
