Baby got inked. Yeah, I got another tattoo! First one was on my calf when I was 16. I designed it myself in photography class. I convinced my mom to sign for it and it’s still pretty darn cool. Tattoos are becoming even more popular now that they’ve become more socially acceptable. Even in the last few years, that stigma about tattoos only being for bikers and gangs is going out the door. Your doctor, dentist, lawyer, realtor or accountant probably has one! Some people are definitely shocked when I tell them I have some ink.. likely because I look 17.
But tattoo #2 was an experience worth sharing! Tattoos are really cool, if you can’t appreciate the art behind them… then definitely skip this post. The second tattoo went on my ribs – where I truly wanted the first one. I was talked out of a rib tattoo last time because it was my first. In all honesty, rib tattoos are not bad! I was pretty sure I’d be sobbing the entire time after talking to people with tattoos and reading about rib tattoos on the web. I mean it might hurt more for you but it was much more tolerable than I thought!
My artist was Vy from No Love Lost Tattoos & Piercings in Bowmanville. She told me I took it like a champ. Vy is a junior artist there but you would never guess. Her work is great, I really loved her amazing linework and illustrative work. I likely over prepared by giving her three pages of inspiration but she did a kick-ass job! Likely why she books up months in advance. The studio was clean and everyone there made me feel super comfortable. Other staff came over to encourage me and praise Vy as she was tattooing me. Erin, the studio manager was super helpful from the start and even helped keep me occupied during the session with some good convo!
The tattoo healed up nicely and I had no troubles. So if you’re looking for some ink, check them out! Try something new and don’t let Google search scare you.
