If I’m being honest, I am in love with Clubhouse! What the heck is Clubhouse? It’s an invite-only social network based on voice. It’s currently only available for iOS but in the next few months, they’ll be opening it up to the public. The founders have already welcomed over 1 million users including celebrities, influencers, founders and every day people. In the first week, I had booked two calls from people I met on Clubhouse and saw seen an increase of over 250 followers on IG! In less than a month, I have over 1000 followers and really started to create my own community on Clubhouse.
You might be thinking… so how do I get an invite and how do I market my business on Clubhouse? If you’re asking yourself that, let’s dig deeper.
INVITES
Invites are tight. Every user gets one invite upon setting up. However, users are affiliated with the accounts they nominate and bring on to the platform. For that reason, a lot of people are hesitant to give invites to people they do not know in real life. I personally like to use my invites to bring industry leaders to the platform. This not only is strategic for me but also brings more value and better users to Clubhouse. Around day 7 or 8 of being active, you’ll receive more invites and they slowly add more depending on things like how often you host rooms, your social sphere on Clubhouse and more.
GROWING
As any new platform, growing on Clubhouse is not that hard! That being said, the more time and energy you put in to anything – the better the results. If growing your community on Clubhouse is a goal, you should start your own rooms and ensure you’re speaking on other rooms. When talking, be clear and concise – don’t ramble and don’t sell your shit. #ReadTheRoom
Other ways to grow include joining Clubs and connecting with others off the platform. A great strategy to grow is to gather other speakers for a discussion around a topic that you know and love to speak about. When other speakers are on stage, their audience is notified.
HOW TO
There is so much to know but the app is always changing. For those looking to get on the platform, download the app and get your username reserved today. Tell five people about the app and trust me – you will be on soon! It’s not as exclusive as it looks.
When you get in, connect your IG and/or Twitter. Flush out your bio and include things like: what you do, where you are, what you like to chat about and how anyone could contact you. These are just some basics! Use emojis, bullet points and keep it concise yet informative.
To better your experience, follow people! This will open up more rooms in your hallway, allowing you to meet new people and create exposure for you to find new rooms.
